High Temperature Furnace Bricks

Versagrid ceramic honeycomb filters

Applied Ceramics produces various sizes of structural refractory products for use in construction of furnaces, kilns, ovens or other heat containment vessels or chambers. These refractory shapes often include items such as bricks, posts, plates and crucibles, as well as complex shapes like tongue and groove, hearth plates. Other unique furnace components such as bubble based insulating or glass contact zirconia brick are also available. A variety of compositions is available for use at temperatures from less than 1000°C to greater than 2000°C.

Applications

While many of our products are made to service existing markets and customers, we also develop new products that either do not currently exist or are not readily available. We are always committed to adding value for our customers by utilizing our technology and experience. Tooling for hundreds of cast or pressed shapes is available to decrease delivery times and maintain high quality standards. Depending on the customer requirement, Applied Ceramics can produce the best solution for each customer’s application.

Applied Ceramics produces various tongue and groove sizes for customers to use. Standard materials used are Calcia stabilized zirconia, Magnesia stabilized zirconia and various alumina formulas. Formulations can be adjusted based on customer requirements or targets. For some applications, a zirconia coating is available to create a protective boundary contact with certain liquid materials or gases.

Applied Ceramics uses high quality materials, which always allow for increased consistency and stability.

Using tongue and groove brick allows for faster re-builds of large pots and furnace repairs. This will improve both productivity and efficiency of the operation that results in cost savings that drop straight to the bottom line.

Applied Ceramics uses its own unique bubble based zirconia formulas to better insulate and provide superior performance properties while reducing the overall cost of the material.

  • Bricks are pressed and vary in size from 2” x 4” to 6” x 12”
  • Tongue and Groove bricks vary in size from 1” x 2” to 4” x 6”

The ACI high temperature alumina bricks are designed to increase the insulation with its lower thermal conductivity measures at higher temperatures. These alumina bricks are made with superior raw materials to improve strength, insulation and overall performance at higher temperatures. When exposed to the higher temperatures, the typical alumina bricks should not expand much which should lead to better performance and longer life.

  • Typical alumina brick sizes are for 4.5 x 9 x 2.5” and 4.5 x 9 x 3”
